That Pam Chick » Social Media http://www.thatpamchick.com Tue, 09 Aug 2011 23:32:06 +0000 en hourly 1 http://wordpress.org/?v=3.3.1 I Think I Tweet Too Much http://www.thatpamchick.com/i-tweet-too-much/ http://www.thatpamchick.com/i-tweet-too-much/#comments Thu, 09 Oct 2008 20:05:08 +0000 Pam http://www.thatpamchick.com/?p=40 Everyone dreams about work now and then.  My work dreams are usually fairly boring and involve being lost in spreadsheets.  Last night, however, I dreamt that one of my memory stick customers emailed me to tell me how much she loved our site and that she Stumbled it for us.  I thought that was cool so I tweeted about her Stumbling the site.  I was so convinced all of this actually happened that I didn’t realize it was a dream until about noon today when I didn’t see that tweet in my Twitter archive.  I still then looked through my email to see if it was true.  Twitter and Stumble Upon have officially made it into my subconscious.

The email appeared to be your typical email blast with updates about the company, new services, etc. Then came this paragraph (again, identifying details withheld on purpose):

“We’ve posted a couple new blog articles you might enjoy. Today’s article is about a Google bombs. This one is pretty fun and should be educational as well if you don’t know what a Google Bomb is. Also, if you are on Digg (or want to sign up) this article already has over 20 Diggs in the first hour, so additional votes are appreciated.”

Really? I am paying them for services and they are asking me for Diggs? I find it pretty ridiculous for them to blatantly beg for clients to Digg their articles. I would have no problem with them simply sending the links in the email since I may be interested in what they say. As Rebecca Kelly said in her Stop Spamming Me for Votes post, if I choose to Digg the article it should be on the merit of the article, not because they got “20 Diggs in the first hour” and want more.

Has anyone else experienced this? Does it bother you?  Are you a vendor that asks your clients for article votes?  Is it effective?
